WISE DAN (g, 7, Wiseman’s Ferry--Lisa Danielle, by Wolf Power {SAf}) was completely unprepared for the start here, but it didn’t seem to matter as the two-time Horse of the Year called on his class in the stretch to catapult past his rivals for an ultimately snug 1 1/2-length tally. Longshot Grand Arch (Arch) was second over Sayaad (Street Sense), while second choice Seek Again (Speightstown) ran into significant traffic trouble in the lane and had to settle for sixth. Wise Dan, who returned from colic surgery last time to take Saratoga’s GII Bernard Baruch H. Aug. 30, stopped the timer in 1:35.62. This was the third Grade I victory on the day for John Velazquez, and the first $1-million purse to be offered at Keeneland. TDN
