"Il est le cheval invaincu le plus célèbre de la planète actuellement. Golden Horn obtient en juillet un Rating de 130, deux points de plus qu'American Pharoah.
Les Ratings de juillet calculés par IFHA, les LONGINES World's Best Racehorse Rankings, ont élu en tête du classement mondial toutes catégories confondues le champion invaincu de John Gosden : Golden Horn.
Cette année, le fils de Cape Cross s'est offert quatre épreuves. Les Feilden Stakes, Listed, à Newmarket, les Dante Stakes, groupe 2, à York, le derby d'Epsom, groupe 1, à Epsom et enfin les Eclipse Stakes, groupe 1, à Sandown, le doublé dans ces deux épreuves de très haut niveau étant rarissime. Voilà donc le meilleur cheval du monde.
Arrivé deuxième du classement avec 128 points, American Pharoah a remporté les trois épreuves de la triple couronne américaine. Le Kentucky derby, les Preakness Stakes et les Belmont Stakes. S'il n'avait pas été battu lors de ses premiers pas à Del mar, le fils de Pioneerof The Nile serait invaincu en huit courses, de quoi faire rêver ! Il a également remporté cette année le groupe 1 Arkansas Derby, soit quatre groupes 1 en 2015.
Troisièmes avec 125, Able Friend, entraîné à Hong Kong, et Shared Belief, américain, ont remporté trois groupes 1 à Sha Tin dont le Champions Mile pour l'un, le Santa Anita Handicap pour l'autre.
Snow Sky, Solow et Trêve se partagent la cinquième place avec 124 points. Snow Sky a gagné deux groupes 2 en 2015... Solow quatre épreuves dont trois groupes 1 dans trois pays différents, et Trêve s'est offerte le Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

GOLDEN HORN was withdrawn from the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday because of the soft ground, but perversely that decision could make him more likely to contest the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe come rain or shine.
There are three reasons behind this apparent contradiction. The first is that John Gosden admitted on Saturday the horse could probably handle genuine soft ground. The trainer simply considered that this particular type of "sticky, holding" soft ground was unsuitable.
We were working on the assumption that Golden Horn may not run in the Arc on soft, but if this has now been downgraded to 'holding' or worse his chances of running have improved.
The Arc has thrown up this sticky, holding ground in the past. The French call it 'collant', which translates as pantyhose or tights because it sticks like ladies' undergarments. In the last 20 years the ground turned up collant or worse five times. So the odds are in his favour.
The second reason we are more likely to see Golden Horn in the Arc is one of legacy. If he was to duck out of soft-ground races at every opportunity he would be remembered as the first world champion since Ben Ainslie to have his career entirely dictated by the elements.
He already missed the King George because of rain and he could miss the Arc and Champion Stakes if it continues to rain. Weather permitting he heads next to York for the Juddmonte International Stakes in August, but where after that? If it keeps raining and connections stick to their guns perhaps that will be that.
The three-year-old is due to retire at the end of the season and a horse of his ability clearly can't keep missing opportunities to shine. The more races he misses, the more likely he is to take up engagements later in the season no matter what ground he faces.
Earlier this month he became the first horse to complete the Dante-Derby-Eclipse treble and if he'd won on Saturday he would have become just the fourth ever Derby-Eclipse-King George winner behind Nashwan, Mill Reef and Tulyar.
He's already being listed among great horses but great horses need great races to establish their legacy. If the ground continues to go against him and he continues not to run he could fail to amass the record a horse of his ability deserves.
The third reason Saturday's defection makes him more likely to turn up at Longchamp is one of conditioning, as missing Saturday's 1m4f race on holding ground may well have extended his campaign by a month.
The King George was set to be his fifth run since April and the sticky ground might have bottomed him, putting an end to his season there and then. Instead he will now have a month off before tackling the International Stakes, which should not pose such an energy-sapping test.
After the International Stakes connections will then be planning the end game. He would have just six-and-a-half weeks before the Arc, which gives him just one or two starts left in his career.
Owner Anthony Oppenheimer has expressed a desire to win the Arc, so the remainder of the season will probably be geared around that. He may go straight there, although the Prix Niel and Irish Champion Stakes look potential options if connections did want to squeeze in another race. In reality though it's probably York, Longchamp, Cartier Awards, paddocks.
The decision not to run on Saturday was probably based on two factors. One, he may not have given his true running on the ground. And two, it might have been too taxing for a horse they want to keep on the go throughout the autumn.
But when it comes to the Arc in October point two will be no longer valid. It will be the end of the season, his final race. Nothing else to look forward to, nothing to preserve him for. Time to make him a legend.
When it comes down to it they might just decide to roll the dice and run even if the going turns up collant. Then again, maybe I'm just talking pantyhose. |

Golden Horn c'est pas Sea The Stars c'est sur, il est sur estimé c'est sur aussi mais il gagné le Derby d'Epsom avec la manière et pour les Anglais cela veut tout dire ! Nous depuis que le jockey club se court sur 2100 m, on en pense quoi de nos vainqueurs de jockey club, on en a honte... c'est bien différent d'Epsom !
Je ne vois pas le mal à faire non partant si le terrain complique la chose. Courir les King George a 3 ans c'est rare, il faut être au top et oui un cheval invaincu c'est très beau sur le papier.
Moi, le fait qu'il ai été non partant je le vois comme une bonne nouvelle car cela renforce ces chances de faire une bonnes performances dans l'Arc. Car avec son programme complet, il serait arrivé complétement rincé chez nous en octobre. Même si j'ai des doutes qu'il coure l'Arc...
Et que dire de la frilosité de l'entourage de Trève, all made for the Qatar Empire ! Que des combats a domicile c'est relativement simple c'est plus simple que se frotter aux meilleurs toute l'année.
Pourquoi ne pas courir les King Georges, la peur de perdre ?
Parce oui tout est prévu pour l'Arc avec elle, ce qui rend l'année bien triste avec Elle...
Et regardez le betting de l'Arc a ce jour, c'est très très pauvre en champions, si Trève gagne elle aura battu qui ? encourageons les challengers à venir !
